About FFRU 2009

In September 2008 a number of interested parties came together to discuss a potential joint project with a focus on greater integration of public health and growth issues at a regional level.

It was felt that there was a major need to take further steps in a direction in which not only health aspects and regional growth processes, but also other aspects of sustainable development were integrated. This creates several challenges, one of which is to describe more clearly the connections of significance for regional development planning that exist between health and sustainable economic development. Another challenge is that these issues have so far been kept apart from one another at both national and local level. In the light of this, the question can be asked how integration between public health initiatives and regional growth initiatives can be undertaken at regional and local level respectively.
