Background

At present most counties/regions have some form of regional development programmes. These are tools that are used to create a common view of preconditions, challenges, visions and objectives for regional development.

The matters that FRUSAM deals with are also included in these development programmes.

FRUSAM is a continuation of FFRU (2009), a dialogue-based process involving public health and regional development. This partnership includes seven regions/regional associations/county councils and two national authorities. The project is financed by funds from the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth.

The project has emerged from a series of questions and thought processes on how regional growth can be integrated with improved public health, and what the importance of this interconnection may be for sustainable economic development.
